The iconic NYC goth/industrial/new wave club that I spent many Saturdays in the 90s has been sold, so last night was their farewell. This link shows a bit of history of The Bank along with vintage pictures. Below is what I wrote on the event’s Facebook page. I decided not to go as I was just their for the reunion back in September, which totally ended on a high note. I decided not to go to the last hurray, not only because I have a day job, but I really didn’t want to rehash the past.
»Another nail in the coffin for the NYC I so fondly remember and grew up in. Another casualty to gentrification and the greed that has turned our city into another shopping mall. I have so many fond memories here, of what it was to be part of a scene that I so dearly love & the people who danced in the shadows. Seeing T…his Ascension, Faith and the Muse, Switchblade Symphony and scores of other bands that shaped and defined the 90s for me during my college years are forever embedded in my memory. Not sure if I can make it to the funeral.»
